Day 1 Overview -- Tybee Beach

Today went well and even the bus trip was tolerable.  Students learned about beach ecology, invertebrates, and maritime forests.  We also celebrated Pi day (March 14th) with a pie-like treat.  Students had fun around the campfire and also enjoyed the breaks between classes when they got to play basketball and volleyball.  We ended the day with a night walk on the beach where students saw Venus, Saturn, the Big Dipper, Orion's Belt, Sirius, and the North Star.

The Stars at Tybee Beach... they weren't very photogenic...
