Monday, August 5th

ELA - I taught a grammar lesson on the correct usage of "there, they're, and their."  Students watched a BrainPop video, took notes, and completed a practice worksheet.  I will review the content tomorrow and quiz the students later this week.

Social Studies - We did an inquiry into Rights and Responsibilities.  I started by asking students to discuss with their table partners the responsibilities and rights of teachers.

Students then analyzed a scenario to determine if an individual was expressing his right to freedom of speech or if he was irresponsible and wrong.

We concluded the lesson by coming up with definitions for rights and responsibilities and students selected a reflection to write.  The choices were:
1. How do your actions impact others?
2.  What is your responsibility as a member of a classroom or school community?

Homework:  Read for 30 minutes.

Classroom request:  Our room is really warm...sticky even.  I brought in a fan but it's tiny and not powerful enough to provide relief to the entire class.  I would love to borrow a few fans and I promise to return them when things cool down.  Thank you!
