ELA - We are continuing our literary study of Messenger and students are going to begin research for their opinion papers.  During Reading we are also going to explore several non-fiction texts related to World War II.

Social Studies - Last week we began exploring the causes of World War II.  This week we will begin learning about the causes and effects of the Holocaust through several read-alouds.  Students can begin studying for the WWII assessment using the quizlet.  I will probably schedule the test for week 4 of this term.

Science - Students will continue inquiring into constructive and destructive Earth forces (volcanoes, earthquakes, erosion, weathering, etc....).  Students will continue our in class activities and begin a web quest that will help them understand the features of landforms and the impact of various forces.

Genius Hour - Students who stay with me for Genius Hour will be completing several tasks.  First, we are beginning the term with a film study.  Students will be exploring different topics while learning various strategies for taking notes and analyzing diverse subject matters.  Students will also complete an individual landforms project.  They will design a landforms board or card game.  Lastly, I will use part of the Genius Hour time to meet with small groups to work on writing, reading comprehension, and math skills.
