Unit of Inquiry: Who We Are
Central Idea: Who we are, where we live, and what we believe influences our viewpoints.
ELA: I can use text evidence to support my explanations. I can write an informational essay.
We are reading The Giver and non-fiction Civil War related texts this week. Students will continue to develop their skills with finding text evidence, understanding causation, and analyzing various perspectives.
Math: I can use multiple strategies to multiply multi-digit numbers.
Students will work on using mental strategies to quickly multiply multi-digit numbers by various powers of ten. Additionally, students will begin understanding, writing, and solving algebraic equations.
Science: I can I can relate how microorganisms can be beneficial and harmful.
Students will begin learning about how microorganisms can be beneficial and/or harmful.
Social Studies: I can inquire into the causes of the Civil War.
This week we will be exploring the causes of the Civil War. Today students watched a video and read a text about Nat Turner's Rebellion. Later this week we will discuss the effect of Uncle Tom's Cabin and other Civil War causes.
Homework: I'll be passing the homework out on TUESDAY and for THIS week it's due on Friday.

This Week's Events
The first FAVE spirit night is at F2O on Tuesday, Sept 20th! F2O will donate 20% of all collected receipts from FAVE families (parent volunteers will be present at the restaurant to collect receipts). F2O is donating a $25 gift card to the teacher whose class raises the most money.`
Village Gathering will be this Friday at 8:00am in the multi-purpose room.
