Thursday, March 29th

Math -- Students took a pre-assessment quiz and I did a short review based on the results of that quiz.  Afterwards they took their Algebra assessment.  Tomorrow students will be given a math performance assessment.  


ELA -- Students worked on their projects.  Everything is due tomorrow.  I told students that I'll be in town to accept late projects during spring break; however, they will need to be accompanied with some sort of coffee gift.  ; ) (I'll be grading and planning all day next Monday if you need to drop any projects off)


Students also had Spanish, P.E., Math Mania, and Music today.  Several students brought in flowers and handmade cards and we (excluding me) sang "Lean on Me."  Ms. Massaquoi really enjoyed it.

F.AVE students are resourceful

Wednesday, March 28th

ELA -- We continued our Battle of Normandy Reader's Theatre and I read my secret camera.  If the opportunity arises, ask your child about the book and how they feel about it.  Some of the pictures are quite sad and many of my students had thoughtful questions and observations.

Math -- Mr. Withers taught an algebra lesson.  

Social Studies -- Students took the first of two WWII social studies assessments today.  The next one is on Friday.  

Battle of Normandy Reader's Theatre

Tuesday, March 27th

ELA -- Students began a 4-day reader's theatre titled "The Battle of Normandy."  Each student has a part and will be graded on their speaking, listening, and viewing skills.  


Social Studies -- Students continued to review for tomorrow's WWII short-answer assessment.


Students also had time to work on their projects.  The final due date will be this Friday and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished products.


As some of your children have told you, Ms. Massaquoi's last day will be this Thursday and my class will be singing her a song.  My daughter (who is currently in the 6th grade) has very fond memories of Ms. Massaquoi and I'm sure that many of your children do as well.  A few other parents from my class have already sent in gifts and expressed their gratitude so feel free to do the same.  Lastly, she said it was okay to distribute her email to those who wanted to keep in touch after this week.  Please email me if you want it and I'll forward it to you.

Monday, March 26th

Students worked on a review packet to help prepare for this week's Math & Science assessments.  We started a Reader's Theatre on the Battle of Normandy and Ms. Karably did a science lab that illustrated how plate tectonics work.

Lastly, thank you to the parents who sent in pencils and tissue!  We appreciate it!

Friday, March 23rd

ELA -- Students took their summative vocabulary assessment today.   We also had our weekly library visit and students used the opportunity to work on their projects.


Social Studies -- Students played a Jeopardy-like WWII game.  I also am sending home the questions so students can study over the weekend.  The assessment will be given in two parts.  The first portion will be given on Wednesday and the second part will be given on Friday.  


Expedition -- next term students will be working on their Expeditionary projects.  Ms. Newton gave a presentation to several classes today and students were able to choose their topics and presentation methods.  Beginning next term students will be able to work on their projects during school.
